NORTH READING — The staff at North Reading Parks and Recreation has announced the following programs. Tennis Clinic Match and Play – for ages 4-5 from July 22-26 from 9-10:30 a.m. for a cost of $65. This program is held at the North Reading High School courts. Parks and Recreation local tennis pro and NRHS Girls Varsity Tennis Coach, Matt Tiberii is running an exciting clinic and tournament. This is a fun week of skill development and training followed by match play. Kids are separated by skill level and age. Prizes and awards will be given at end of the week.
Hornet Hoops Basketball Clinic – Boys and girls ages 8-15, from July 29 – Augusst 1 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. for a cost of $240. This program is held at the NRHS courts. NRP&R is joining North Reading native, NRHS teacher, and Arlington High School Basketball coach Kevin Lentini in bringing this camp to NRHS this summer.
The program is a four day clinic focusing on skill development for players of all ages in a fun, competitive learning environment. Younger players will build foundational skills such as ball-handling, passing, and shooting. Older players will receive expert skill development including advanced ball handling, post-moves, 3-point shooting mechanics, shot selection, and man-to-man defensive concepts. At all levels there will be a combination of skills, drills, and live scrimmages. Kevin is a top-5 all-time leading scorer at NRHS. He played Varsity Basketball at Bates College.
Multi-Sport with NR Recreation – for ages tots 4 – 6 and elementary 7-10 from July 29 – August 1 from 9 a.m. – 12 noon for a cost of $120. This program is designed for players to experience multiple sports in one week. Kids will play soccer, flag football, basketball and more. Kids learn basic techniques and teamwork. Each day will highlight a sportsmanship value for the kids to focus on. Sportsmanship awards will be presented on last day.
