NORTH READING — If you’re not registered to vote, or if you’re new to town and want to vote in the Sept. 8 State Primary, or if you want to change your party enrollment to vote on Sept. 8, the voter registration deadline is Friday, Aug. 19, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Town Clerk’s Office in town hall.

All persons registered by the Aug. 19 deadline will be eligible to vote in the THURSDAY, Sept. 8 primary.

The voter registration deadline is also the last day to change party affiliation for the Primary. Voters registered as Democrat, Republican, Green-Rainbow and United Independent Party can only receive that party’s ballot. All other persons registered as Unenrolled or in any other minor political designation may choose one of those four party ballots (D, R, GR, UIP) — all of these voters will automatically revert back to their original status following the Primary.

Inactive voters will be required to complete an Affidavit of Current Residency and must provide identification with their name and voting address. Persons who received the recent Voter Confirmation Card (VCC) mailing must return the postcard by the Aug. 19 registration deadline to be re–instated to an Active voter status for the Primary. If the VCC has been misplaced, a similar form is available on the Town Clerk’s website home page at: www.northreadingma.gov/town-clerk, as well as additional information and links including copies of the sample ballots. Please check your voter status before the deadline to ensure your Active enrollment for election day.

The following “gateway” has all the connecting Election links to register to vote on-line, find your voter status, polling place, or download an absentee ballot affidavit: www.123voter.com . For additional information, please contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 978-357-5218.

Special Note: The 2016 state primary will be held on THURSDAY, Sept. 8, not a Tuesday.
