WAKEFIELD — It was a season to remember for the Wakefield High girls’ cross country team. Wakefield won the Div. 2A State Championship on Nov. 13 at Gardner Golf Course.

The Warriors had three All-Stars selected by coaches across the league: Senior captain Sammy Seabury (MVP, All-Conference), junior Madison Nett and sophomore Charlotte O’Neil.

Seabury, who finished 1st at the state meet, 43 seconds faster than the second-place finisher, had an incredible season including 1st place finishes in all six of Wakefield’s dual meets, as well as a gold in the Bay State Invitational, the Twilight Invitational and the Middlesex League Meet. Seabury got 2nd at the D2 All-State meet in a school record time. She was named to both the Boston Herald and the Boston Globe’s All-Scholastic team. Seabury signed a National Letter of Intent to the Boston University cross country and track and field teams.

Nett concluded her strong season by medaling at the D2A State Championship with an 8th place finish.

O’Neil’s terrific season included getting 18th at states and finishing as Wakefield’s 2nd runner at All-States.

“I couldn’t be prouder of them,” said Wakefield head coach Karen Barrett of the All-Stars.
