WAKEFIELD — The Middlesex League’s golf coaches met recently to vote on All-Stars for the 2021 season.
The Wakefield High golf team had one All-Star named: junior Joe Colliton.
Colliton competed at the No. 1 spot for the Warriors in his first year of varsity golf. He went 5-6-2 overall and 5-4-2 in the Middlesex League, all against the top golfers on each team.
“After playing just one season of golf, and at the JV level, it was impressive to see him be so competitive at such a tough spot in the lineup this season,” said head coach Chris Keane.
Colliton was one of a majority of Warriors who were in the varsity lineup for the first time this season. Wakefield finished the season with a league record of 3-8 in the Freedom Division, tied for 4th with Burlington. Melrose won the division with a 7-3 record followed by Watertown and Stoneham at 4-7.
