A loving husband and father who enjoyed crossword puzzles

WAKEFIELD — John “Jack” Egan, 69 of Wakefield, formerly of Stoneham, died at his home with his wife and daughters by his side on Saturday, August 28.

Born in West Point, New York, he was the son of the late John and Eva (Thériault) Egan.

Jack was a graduate of Stoneham High School, class of 1969, and New England School of Art & Design, class of 1973. During the Vietnam War, he served in the National Guard, aiding residents during the Great Chelsea Fire of 1973 and the Blizzard of 1978. For many years, Jack ran his own business, Point Positive Design Studio of Wakefield, where he freelanced as a graphic designer. Following his retirement, he worked part-time for Home Depot in Saugus. In his spare time, he enjoyed crossword puzzles, listening to music, watching sports, and puttering around the yard and on home projects.

He was the beloved husband of Paula (Prince) Egan, the loving father of Sarah Egan of Somerville and Nicole Mahoney and her husband, Garrett, of Wakefield. He was the brother of Gail Eddy of Newton. Jack is also survived by his loving grandchildren Mackenzie and Annabelle.

His funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
