WAKEFIELD — PAWS (Protection of Animals in Wakefield Society, Inc) is excited to announce that they have at least 16 kittens and cats available right now for adoption (and more in the pipeline!). Some of them can be seen this Saturday, September 21, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the PAWS office, located at 411 Lowell St., in Wakefield (in the same plaza as Meletharb Ice Cream and Dino’s Brick Oven Pizzeria). Others may be visited, by appointment, in the homes where they are being fostered.

The following is a partial list of our felines ready to meet you. There are five kittens, from two different litters: Bark, Sap, Spunk, Quintus and Sextus. PAWS has four young adult cats, between the ages of 1 and 4 years: Bridget Bishop, Lentil, Karina and Natasha. Three more adult cats are 7 or 8 years old: Skiddles, Ophelia and Slippery Alma. The group also has three senior cats, aged 12, 13 or 14 years: Roxy, Stelvia and Opie. Pictures and background information on many of them are posted on the PAWS website: www.pawswakefieldma.org/adoptable-cats. Some have also been featured with a video on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/PAWS.01880

PAWS 2024

UP FOR ADOPTION at PAWS. Looking for a home from left to right: Karina, Spunk, Slippery Alma, and Opie

If you find a pet who pulls at your heart or just catches your eye, please fill out our online adoption form.  Even if you are not sure which cat is the right one for you, you can still fill out an application. PAWS loves to matchmake! No fees will be charged until an adoption is finalized. Do you have questions about the adoption process or a particular cat? Send us an email at PAWS01880@gmail.com or leave a message on our 24-hour voicemail: 551-800-7297.

Before they are made available for adoption, all PAWS cats have had a vet examination, been spayed or neutered, received age-appropriate vaccinations, tested for feline leukemia, dewormed at least once, and microchipped. Other tests and procedures may have been provided, depending on their age and health status when they came into our care. Adoption fees vary, depending on the cat’s age, and those fees are listed on the website.

PAWS is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare organization and foster network, founded in 1982 by the late Esther Nowell. We serve many communities north and west of Boston. Our mission is to promote and protect the rights and well-being of all domestic animals and wildlife, and foster greater understanding of animal welfare and animal rights through education. At our office we host an animal food pantry, accept donations of pet food and supplies, have pet-related merchandise available for a donation, and hold open houses to feature our adoptable cats. Our website and Facebook pages list the hours the office is open.
