A jack-of-all-trades, avid fly fisherman, and enjoyed card games

RALEIGH, North Carolina — Carl E. Johnson of Raleigh, North Carolina, formerly of North Reading and Wakefield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 15, 2022 after a brief illness.

Carl was born in Wakefield to Albert M. and Marjorie R. (Scott) Johnson. He was educated in the Wakefield school system and after graduation served his country in the US Army. Following his time in the military, Carl worked for Raytheon as a skilled carpenter for over 25 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sisters Elizabeth Peters and Linda Maxfield.

Carl married the love of his life Carla (Caracoglia) Johnson and they just recently celebrated 62 years of marriage. A carpenter by trade, Carl was a skilled craftsman, a jack-of-all-trades. Whether it was building with wood or working magic on his leather pieces, Carl always succeeded in any task he performed. Carl was an avid fly fisherman and perfected this skill on the rivers near Newfound Lake. He enjoyed horseshoes, puzzling and a variety of card games including cribbage and bridge.

Carl leaves behind his wife Carla A. (Caracoglia) Johnson of Raleigh NC; children Kimberly A. Myette (Steven); Eric C. Johnson; Tracy A. Johnson (Lars); brother Harry S. Johnson; grandchildren Jacqueline Landry (Jason); and Paige St. George (Jean); Linnea Johnson; Lillian Johnson; great grandchildren Lillian Landry and Corbin Landry.

A celebration of Carl’s life will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Bright Funeral Home 405 S.
