Received the Korean Service Medal with Three Bronze Stars

WAKEFIELD — Charles J. Noe, of Wakefield, and formerly of Boston’s West End died at his home on January 2, 2022.

Charles was born in Boston on March 18, 1930 and was the son of the late Salvatore and Carmela (DeStefano) Noe.

Charles was raised in the West End and graduated from the Boston Public Schools. He served honorably with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and served as a Tech Sergeant. He received the Korean Service Medal with Three Bronze Service Stars as well as other commendations. He had been a longtime employee of the former Boston Herald Traveler newspaper and later worked at the well known news stand in Cambridge Square, the “Town News & Ticket.” He was also a founding member of 1424 Club of Boston.

Charles was the beloved husband of the late Eleanora (Intravaia) Noe. He was the loving father of Charlene Coon of Bennington, VT; Michele Noe of Wakefield and Noreen Kenney of Derry, NH. He was the brother of Natale A. Noe and his late wife, Virginia. He was the devoted grandfather of Nicole Hardy, Paul Haberlin, Kirsten Noe, Christopher Kenney, Amy Lynne Kenney and the late Shelby Coon. He was also the great grandfather of Jasmine and Walter Hardy.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155 Main St. Wakefield on Friday, January 7 at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield on Thursday from 3-7 p.m. (masks will be required). Interment will be at Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
