A professional chef, family man and avid Pats fan

WAKEFIELD — Dennis A. Dale, 66, of Wakefield died at his home on Saturday evening, January 8.

Born in Woolwich, London, England on April 24, 1955, the son of the late Ernest and Violet (Ellis) Dale.

As a young man growing up in England, he was involved with soccer. He also joined the Sea Cadets, where he learned seamanship and physical training, eventually becoming an instructor. He was awarded the Gold Award by the Duke of Edinburgh during a ceremony held at Buckingham Palace in 1973. During his teenage years, Dennis became interested in cooking, which led to his long and distinguished culinary career. After working for some top restaurants in England, he brought his talents to the Trust House Forte in Bermuda where he met his future wife, Carla Felder. Dennis moved to Massachusetts in 1981 and soon became the Executive Sous Chef of the Ritz-Carlton in Boston. Over the years, he became Executive Chef with the Hilton at Dedham Place, the Winchester Country Club, Colonnade Hotel of Boston, and Doubletree Hotel of Boston. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family in Wakefield and at their home at Moose Pond in Maine. Boating, fishing, and golfing were his passions. Like his father Ernest, he was also a talented woodworker. Dennis was an avid fan of the Patriots, Charlton Athletics, and the English Premier Soccer League. He always stayed in close contact with his family in England and made regular visits.

He was the beloved husband of Carla (Felder) Dale, the loving father of Austin Dale of Provincetown, Dylan Dale of Austin, TX, Logan Dale of San Marcos, TX and Brittany Dale of Wakefield. He was the brother of Karen Dale, John Dale, and his wife Susan, all of England. He was the brother-in-law of Maureen and Nicholas Palla of Middleton. He is also the loving uncle of John and Julie Dale, Faye and Bruce Herbst, Justin Palla and Analisa Palla.

His funeral service will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 12 noon. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Interment, Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
