PEABODY — Jon-David E. Sylvester, age 44, of Peabody, formerly of Wakefield and Derry, NH, died suddenly after a chronic illness on October 11.

Born in Melrose on Feb. 15, 1977 he was the beloved son of Joanne (Iosua) Sylvester and the late Eugene A. Sylvester. He was the loving father of Jon L. and Dominic Sylvester. He was the brother of Julie M. Sylvester of Peabody. He was the grandson of the late Joseph P. and Mary Iosua and the late Anthony and Erland Sylvester. He was the nephew of Dorothy Gonzales and her husband Vincent, Marilyn Iosua, Joseph A. Iosua, Janet Iosua, Mary-Elizabeth Lanza and her husband Mark, and Kathleen Iosua. He was the cousin of Kristina, Anthony, Paul, David, Lisa, Richard, Marie, Nicholas and the late Leia.

Jon was raised in Wakefield and Derry, NH and had attended St. Joseph School in Wakefield and Derry public schools. He was a 1995 graduate of Pinkerton Academy and a 2001 graduate of Suffolk University. Jon was involved in a variety of jobs, but his love of the outdoors led him to choose landscaping, as his final career. He enjoyed music and attending concerts, especially the Allman Brothers, Phish, and The Dead. Jon was also an avid reader and enjoyed hiking and skiing.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Monday at 11:30 am. Visitation for relatives and friends at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield prior to the mass from 9-11am.
