A wonderful cook and homemaker

PEABODY — Josephine A. Rich, 95, of Peabody and formerly of Wakefield, died Thursday, January 20 in Danvers with her children by her side. She was born in Wakefield on December 26, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Theresa (Cataldo) Ripa. She was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School. After living with her late husband in Wakefield and Long Beach, CA, they later made their home in Peabody. Josie was a wonderful cook and homemaker and took great pride in both. She especially enjoyed her once in a lifetime trip to Italy and Sicily.

Josie was the beloved wife of the late Frank J. Rich. She was the loving mother of James D. Rich of Reading, Robert P. Rich of CA and Cynthia A. D’Onofrio of Stoneham. She was the sister of Pauline Anderson and the late Carmella Bisso, Vito Ripa, Thomas Ripa, Frank Ripa, Grace Spinella, Rose Sardella and Peter Ripa. She also leaves many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Adelaide Church, 708 Lowell Street, Peabody on Wednesday, January 26 at 11. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Avenue, Wakefield on Tuesday, January 25 from 3-7 p.m. Masks are required at the funeral home and church.
