Enjoyed vacationing across America and trips abroad

WAKEFIELD — Joyce M. Sullivan, 92, of Wakefield died peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 11.

She was born in Lynn on April 5, 1929 and was the daughter of the late James L. and Anna M. (Barnes) Burkinshaw.

Joyce was a graduate of St. Mary’s Girl’s High School, and the Chandler Business School for Women. She had been a Wakefield resident since 1958 and was a member of The Most Blessed Sacrament Church Women’s Guild as well as other local organizations. She was a retired bookkeeper for Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School. Joyce was a poll worker for many years for the town. She enjoyed trailering vacations for years and seeing America and trips abroad.

She was the beloved wife of the late John C. Sullivan. She was the loving mother of Robin A. Wolf and her husband, Peter, of Winchester; John C. Sullivan, Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Fort Myers, FL; James L. Sullivan and his wife, Maria, of Stoneham, and Laurel A. Sullivan of Wakefield and her partner John Hart. She was the sister of Laurel McDonough of Marblehead, Diane Juke of Vernon, CT, and the late Elaine Healy of Peterborough, N.H. Joyce is also survived by her two grandchildren Eleanor and Jeremy and many nieces, nephews and friends, old and new.

Joyce’s funeral Mass will be celebrated in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield on Tuesday, January 18 at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield prior to the Mass from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
