Enjoyed spending time with his family and friends

WAKEFIELD — Luciano Querel, 81, of Wakefield, died Monday, March 14 at his residence. He was born in Trieste, Italy on March 8, 1941 and was the son of the late Aldo and Josepina (Kirn) Querel.

Luciano was born and raised in Italy. Having been orphaned at a very young age, Luciano went to work by the age of 13 and years later followed his sister to the United States, making his home here in the 1970’s. First living in Reading and then to the South End of Boston. While out at a dance club in 1974, Luciano met his wife, Irene. The two married and after a few moves, eventually settled in Wakefield to raise their daughter. Luciano had spent his working career as a butcher, but due to health complications, retired at the age of 46. He spent his retirement years cooking and gardening and enjoying fellowship at the Apian Club in Stoneham, an Italian American club. Luciano most enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife Armenouhi “Irene” (Topjian) Querel and his loving daughter Christine M. Montone and her husband, Leonard, of Wakefield. He was the brother of the late Nella Belanger and her late husband, Phil. He was the uncle of Patricia Jacobson and her husband, Mark, of Londonderry, N.H. and Donna Bowie and her husband, Gabriel, of Hudson, N.H. He was the great uncle of Katherine Barnes of Derry, N.H. and Erin D’Entremont and her wife Tina of Nashua, N.H.

His funeral services will be private. Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.
