A Gold Star wife and parishioner of St. Joseph Church

WOBURN — Mary L. Curran, age 93, of Woburn, formerly of Wakefield died March 27 at her residence.

Born in Boston on December 17, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Paul and Catherine (Gavin) Conley.

Mary was raised in Wakefield and graduated from high school in South Portland, Maine. She had retired from NYNEX where she had worked as a clerk. Mrs. Curran was a member of the Communications Workers of America, New England Telephone Pioneers, she was a Gold Star wife and a parishioner of St. Joseph Church.

She was the beloved wife of the late John A. Curran and Lt. Joseph A. Cochran, Jr. She was the loving mother of Timothy P. Curran of Wethersfield, CT, Shelia J. Vitali of No. Billerica, Jean Curran of Woburn, and the late Joseph A. Cochran, III and John “Jack” Curran. She was the sister of Jane Felt of Sandwich and the late Frances Moore, Carol Vets, and Paul Conley. She was the grandmother of Kelly, Andrea, Patrick, Stephen, Margaret, and Jacob. She is also survived by five great grandchildren.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Thursday, March 30 at 11:30 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held prior to the Mass at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
