Loving ‘Nan’ who loved to shop with her granddaughter

WAKEFIELD — Patricia (Pat) C. Thompson, 88, of Wakefield, passed away on December 31, 2021 at Bear Hill Rehab in Stoneham after a brief illness.

Born in Medford on November 3, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Helen (Berrigan) Johnson.

Pat is survived by her granddaughter, Danielle Thompson and her fiancé Mike Cornetta, her youngest sister Mary Lou Fahy of Fla., previously N.H., as well as nieces, nephews and much loved family friends. She adored her cat Sadie, who is in good hands with Danielle.

Pat was the mother of her late daughter, Sandra Thompson, of Wakefield.

She is predeceased by eight of her siblings, Helen Allen, June Volpe, Lorraine McInnis, Herbert Johnson Jr., Virginia Walker, Barbara Stone, James Johnson and Robert Johnson.

Pat devoted many years of her life to raising her granddaughter, Danielle, who will forever cherish their relationship. The two were always together and everyone who knows Danielle knows Pat as “Nan.” Their most recent memory before her passing was celebrating the engagement of Danielle and Mike – she couldn’t have been happier for them.

Pat worked at Marshall’s Distribution Center in Woburn for over 30 years. Shopping turned into one of Pat and Danielle’s favorite hobbies and they rarely spent a weekend without either visiting a store or browsing a yard sale.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a donation to the Perkins Library in Watertown in Pat’s memory. She listened to hundreds of “books on tape” thanks to their program.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday, March 19 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
