Registered Nurse was a longtime Wakefield resident

EFFINGHAM, NH — Sandra Jean (Ballard) Lodico of Effingham, NH and North Ft. Myers, FL (formerly of Wakefield, MA) passed away peacefully on Monday, December 20, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

Born to Dorothy (Eadon) and Carroll Ballard, Sandy was raised in Weymouth and Tewksbury, before moving to Wakefield, meeting the love of her life Mike Lodico, and graduating from WHS in 1961. Mike & Sandy married in 1966, settled in Wakefield and had two children.

Sandy graduated from Quincy City Hospital School of Nursing in 1966, and began a 35+ year career in the care and service of others as an RN, mostly at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. Upon retirement, she wintered in Florida and summered in New Hampshire, where she was active in the Effingham Preservation Society, serving on its Board of Directors since 2012. ‘Nana’ was happiest spending time with her family, friends and dog Triscuit — traveling to Europe & Disney, attending bingo games and Sunday brunches, watching Christmas movies and cooking shows.

Sandy is survived by her husband Michael, son Jay and his wife Courtney of Exeter, NH, daughter Dawn Bullens and her husband Geoff of Exeter, NH, and her five beloved grandchildren: Madeline, Grace and Anna Lodico and Weston and Hayden Bullens, all of Exeter, NH. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Judith.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Sandy’s memory be made to the Effingham Preservation Society at auctria.events/HonoringSandyLodico or P.O. Box 151, Effingham, NH 03882. Upon her request, all services will be private. Please visit the Stockbridge Funeral Home website at www.stockbridgefh.com to sign the online guestbook.
