BOSTON — The Wakefield High boys’ indoor track team opened up their season with a big win against Wilmington 76-19 on Thursday night at the New Balance Track.

In the 55 meter hurdles, Joe Patt ran a personal best time of 8.55 for the win. Carter Jefferson, new to indoor track, was 3rd with a time of 9.71.

After going 1-3 in the hurdles, the Warriors swept the 55 meter dash with Ethan Gori, new to indoor track, running a very fast time of 6.85 for the win. Aiden Jones also ran a personal best of 7.09 for 2nd and Adam Levy also ran a personal best of 7.11, coming in 3rd to complete the sweep.

The Warriors swept the mile with Mike Arria leading off in 4:44. Andrew Nett was 2nd in 4:47, a personal best. Brendan Campea was 3rd in 4:54.

In the 600 meters, Brody Wyatt ran 1:33 for the win. Newcomer to indoor track, Aidan Martin, was 2nd in 1:34.

In the 1000 meters, William Mezikofsky led another Warrior sweep as he ran the top time in the league at 2:41. Liam Taggart was 2nd in 2:46. Ethan Mezikofsky was 3rd in 2:49.

In the 300 meters, Alejandro Borda ran a personal best time of 40.02 and was second.

Another Warrior sweep came in the 2 mile with Ollie Polster running a personal best to win the 2 mile in 10:17. Brandon Nett was 2nd in 10:29. Tyler Galante ran a huge personal best of 11:05 for 3rd.

In the shot put, both indoor track newcomers impressed as Frankie Sullivan was 1st  with a throw of 35 ‘11.25 and Tym Brown was 2nd with a throw of 34′ 04.75.

In the long jump, indoor track newcomer JaMauri Belmer was 2nd with a jump of 18 ‘7 and Aiden Jones was 3rd with a jump of 18’5.

One of the biggest highlights of the meet was in the high jump as Belmer was 2nd with a phenomenal jump of 6’0. His jump was the best in the small division and is the best jump by any sophomore in Wakefield history. Joe Patt was 3rd in the event with a jump of 5’10.

The Warriors won the 4×400 in a time of 3:39 that included Will Mezikofksy, Taggart, Patt and Wyatt.

Some of the JV highlights from this week were freshman Alec Buonopane-Cohen in the 1 mile with a time of 5:04 good for 3rd overall. Sophomore Aidan Burd placed 2nd overall in the 600 meters in a time of 1:38.07. Sophomore Mhamed Boukataya was 4th overall in the 1000 meters with a personal best of 3:03.   

The 4×400 meter relay team of Max Viselli, Liam Kelley, Buonopane-Cohen and Boukatya placed 2nd in a time of 4:02.

The Warriors face Stoneham at the New Balance Track this Thursday at 4 p.m.
