WAKEFIELD — Woodville Elementary School students began the school year with a fun and creative addition to their playground. Thanks to the hard work and artistic talent of Woodville community members, children can run, jump and interact with a colorful new Chalk Walk/Obstacle Course painted directly onto the playground’s pavement. Think of it as an illustrated game board with features that keep kids moving and delighted by distinctly Wakefield imagery.

The project came together as a gift from the Woodville Class of 2024 thanks to the generous support of Woodville families and the teamwork of many community-minded collaborators: Kayte Muse, graphic artist and Woodville mom for her initial design work and project management; Multimedia artist, creative instructor and experience-facilitator Alex Adamo of alexmakesart.com for leading volunteers on methods and materials; Glenn Troy, Woodville dad and extraordinary volunteer and Alex’s colleague; Doug McGregor, Woodville dad and Professional Coatings Representative at The Sherwin Williams Paint Company who donated $500 worth of paint to Woodville; The many volunteers who prepped, painted and cleaned the area Maddy Bergeron; Juliet Bonner; Addi Butland; Joe Calabresi; Anna Foro; Sienna Gold; Ethan Mezikofsky; Dan, Addison and Winston Muse; Jackie and Cleo Natale; Megan O’Connor; and Henry and Theo Troy; and our photographers Cheryl Camps-Campins, Russ Mezikofsky and Kayte Muse.

“This vibrant new addition to Woodville’s playground is a true testament to how our community comes together and will bring joy to our students this year and in many school years to come,” said Matthew Carter, Principal at Woodville Elementary School.

As a sign of gratitude, the Woodville PTO is looking to help restock Alex’s shared community art supplies for her upcoming season of events across many Greater Boston area neighborhoods and beyond.
