Avid sports fan, especially the Celtics

WAKEFIELD – Joanna M. “Joan” Jankowski, 86, longtime resident of Wakefield died Saturday January 4, 2020 at Bearmountain of Reading.

Born in Chelsea, September 20, 1933 she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Bednarek) Kravish.

Joan was a graduate of Medford High School class of 1951. She had been a Wakefield resident for the past 54 years and was a member of St. Florence Parish. She enjoyed playing Bridge, reading, walking and knitting Afghans. She was an avid sports fan, especially the Celtics.

Joan was the beloved wife of Charles A. Jankowski. She was the loving mother of John C. Jankowski and wife Cheryl of New Ipswich, N.H., Kathleen Jankowski Can of Londonderry, N.H. the late Robert M. Jankowski and his wife Jennifer and the sister of Rosalie Nutile of Wakefield and Theresa Thacker of Rochester, N.H. Joan is also survived by her five grandchildren, Brittany, Zachary, Logan, Matthew and Adam.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday prior to the mass from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
