Member of Wakefield’s Model Railroad Club

WOBURN — Merrill W. Slayton, 78, of Woburn formerly of Wakefield died on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Allston on November 5, 1941, he was the son of the late Merrill P. and Harriett (Fleet) Slayton.

Mr. Slayton was raised and educated in Wakefield. He was a retired yard horsler for the B&M and Amtrak railroad. Mr. Slayton was a member of the Wakefield Model Railroad Club.

He is survived by his wife Janet C. (Hale) Slayton, his three sons; M. Wayne Slayton of Ayer, James Esposito and his wife Vicki of Penn. and Kevin Esposito of Gardner. Mr. Slayton is also survived by his eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private.

Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home in Wakefield.
