U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War

WAKEFIELD — Ralph A. Francesconi, 88, of Wakefield died on Monday, October 14, 2019 at his residence.

Born in Revere on January 29, 1931, he was the son of the late Alexander and Mary (Federiconi) Francesconi.

Mr. Francesconi was a graduate of Christopher Columbus High School in Boston, Class of 1949 and had attended Tilton Academy in New Hampshire. He worked as a salesman for General Cigar. Mr. Francesconi served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Saugus American Legion Post #0210. Mr. Francesconi enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with his family. He had been a Wakefield resident since 1961 and was a member of St. Florence Parish in Wakefield.

He is survived by his wife Rita M. (Valdora) Francesconi, his two daughters; Kim Gulczynski and her husband Paul of Randolph and Gayle Dulavitz and her husband Michael of Westford, his son Ralph Francesconi and his wife Valerie of Georgetown, his brother Alexander Francesconi of Wakefield and his six grandchildren; Nicholas, Alexander, Paul, Alecia, Samantha and Ralph. Mr. Franccesconi is also survived by his four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers; Carlo Francesconi and Henry Francesconi and his sister Dorothy King.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
