U.S. Navy veteran of WWII

WAKEFIELD — Robert D. Woods, 90, of Wakefield, formerly of Saugus, died on Sunday, January 13, 2019 surrounded by his family at his home in Wakefield. He was the loving husband of Maureen C. Courtenay of Wakefield and the late Ann (Rinaldo) Woods.

Born in Tilton, N.H., he was the son of the late William and Emma (Merrill) Woods. He worked as a tile setter and mason, employed by the Boston Naval Shipyard and retired from the Bedford Veterans Administration Hospital. He was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran. Bob was an avid golfer, a gifted craftsman and enjoyed spending his retired years with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife Mr. Woods also leaves two beloved sons, Frank Woods and his wife Kimberley of Saugus, Robert Woods Jr. and his wife Maureen of Georgetown; four cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth McCaffrey and her husband Patrick, Daniel, Katherine and Victoria Woods, two great-grandchildren, Jack and Emma McCaffrey and his brother-in-law Anthony Rinaldo of Westerly, R.I. He is predeceased by four sisters and two brothers.
