WAKEFIELD — On Friday at about 1 p.m. a Crescent Street resident called police to report a possible theft.

The man told police that a couple of acquaintances were visiting his apartment. He said that he left his wallet containing $400 out while he left the room to do something. When he returned, he told police, the cash was gone.

Police are investigating.

At about 5:15 on Saturday morning, a caller reported that the rear door handle to a downtown restaurant appeared to have been tampered with and some kind of alarm was going off. Police did find that the door handle was broken but there were no signs of forced entry. Officers determined that the alarm was coming from a different unit and was related to a battery issue.

There were no injuries in a two-car accident at the intersection of Salem and New Salem streets just after 2 p.m. on Saturday. The crash involved a 2020 Dodge Challenger driven by a New Hampshire man and a 2019 Chevy Siverado operated by a Lynn woman. No further details were available.

At about 4:30 Saturday afternoon, Police and the Fire Department assisted a resident who was accidentally locked out of a Greenwood Avenue home with a three-month-old child inside. Entry was gained and everyone was fine.

At about 1:30 Sunday morning, a caller reported hearing loud yelling in the area of Crescent Street. Police found a small backyard gathering. The revelers agreed to shut down the music and head inside for the remainder of the night.

At about 3:15 on Sunday afternoon a Wakefield man called police to report that the driver’s side mirror of his 2016 Nissan Altima had been struck by an unknown vehicle while parked on Chestnut Street.

At about 5:15 this morning, a Converse Street resident reported that a woman was repeatedly knock on her door and ringing the doorbell in an effort to get into the home. The woman left prior to officers’ arrival but returned at about 6 a.m. knocking on the resident’s door again and asking for help. Arriving officers requested an ambulance to evaluate the woman, who refused medical treatment and left the area.

The Fire Department responded to 28 calls for service over the weekend. Twenty-two of those were medical calls.

On Saturday at about 3 p.m. firefighters went to Route 128 south near Exit 57 (North Avenue) for a reported two car crash. There were no injuries and State Police were on scene.
