Congratulations to Kaitlin Sweeney on committing to Trinity College track and field.

At Trinity, she plans to study neuroscience in addition to continuing her athletic career at the collegiate level.

While at WMHS, Katie dedicated all four years of her high school athletic career to track, running events such as the 300m, 400m, 600m, and 4x400m relay. With personal bests at 46.21 in the 300m, 1:03.28 in the 400m, and 1:45.77 in the 600m, Sweeney was a strong, essential part of the Warrior track team’s success. Throughout her four years, she represented Wakefield in multiple divisional state meets.

Sweeney did not go unrecognized for her accomplishments, earning the title of Middlesex League All-Star, as well the Best Sprinter Award and Unsung Hero Award for the Wakefield track and field team. Along with these celebrations of her career, Katie will always carry with her the unforgettable moment she shared with her teammates when they placed second in the distance medley relay at states this past indoor season.

The Wakefield Community is thrilled to support Katie in this exciting next chapter! Wakefield will miss you. Once a Warrior, always a Warrior! Good luck and go Bantams!

From coach Karen Barrett

“Katie is a great runner and worked really hard to come back from injury. I was always very impressed with her work ethic.”
