BOSTON — The Auerbach Freshman/Sophomore State Championship was held at the Reggie Lewis Center on Saturday. The Warriors collected some hardware as many of them placed high against their peers.

The meet is essentially a preview of athletes who will be competing at a high level in Massachusetts in the near future.

Girls’ team results

Charlotte O’Neil had a 15 second PR of 5:40 to place 6th in the 1 mile.

Lily Sallee also ran a PR of 6:18.

In the 600 meters, Molly Forrest hang tough with the leader of the three lapper to run a PR of 1:49.46 sprinting to finish 8th overall.

Maeve Schermerhorn also had a PR of 1:54.42.

The 4×200 meter relay team of Rachel Caplin, Lea Carangelo, Maya Neal and Molly Forrest ran to a 7th place finish of 2:01.

In the 55 meter hurdles, Megan Clark was the top freshman on the day with her 10th overall finish and PR of 10.9.

In the 1000 meters, Maggie Barnard ran a PR of 3:37 to place 12th.

In the 55 meters, Maya Neal ran a PR of 8.47 and Rachel Caplin ran 8.67.

In the 300 meters, Lea Carangelo ran 49.76.

In the 2 mile, Grace Brackett ran 13:52.

In the Shot Put, Miranda Menjivar threw 16’.

In the Long Jump, Rachel Caplin jumped 10’1.25”.

Boys’ team results

In the high jump, Joe Patt placed 2nd with a jump of 5’4”.

In the 1 mile, Liam Taggart placed 6th in a PR of 4:59.

Brandon Nett ran a time of 5:20.

In the 1000 meters, William Mezikofsky placed 3rd in a major PR of 2:48.02. Mezifkofsky stayed patient over the first few laps and worked his way toward the front of the pack and was part of a trio who sprinted the final lap as the winner ran 2:47 just ahead of the Warrior sophomore. Freshman Andrew Nett ran a PR of 3:08.17 to place 13th.

In the 2 mile, Ollie Polster ran a 32 second PR of 11:04 to finish 4th as he closed faster than most of the kids in the race over the 2nd mile.

The 4×400 meter relay team of Joe Patt, Brody Wyatt, Liam Taggart and William Mezikofsky placed 5th in 3:59.

In the 55 meters, Alejandro Borda ran a PR of 7.61.

In the 600 meters, Marcello Caruso ran a PR of 1:49.54.

In the 300 meters, Brody Wyatt ran a lap and a half in 42.88.

The full Wakefield girls’ and boys’ teams are back in action today as they both match up with Burlington with the last meet of the regular season.
