SAUGUS — Walter A. Caputo, 84, of Saugus died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 at his home.

He was born in Revere on June 11, 1931 and was the beloved son of the late Michael and Louise (DeMarco) Caputo. Mr. Caputo was retired from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Public Works. He was a proud veteran and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his son, James Caputo and his wife Donna. He was the brother of Rudolf A. Caputo and his late wife Jeanne (Ruggiero); Arda (Caputo) Halliday and her husband Wilbur “Whip” Halliday; and the late Arthur and Anthony Caputo. He was the loving grandfather of Matthew and Alyssa Caputo. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Walter, known as “Unk,” will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his generosity of his time and love. Some of “Unk’s” fondest memories include flag football games, holiday gatherings and spending summers on Cape Cod with family.

Funeral services will be private.
