Hoop team hosts Burlington; Hockey team meets Winchester

The girls’ hockey team and the girls’ basketball team will both match up against Middlesex League foes in the first games of their respective Div. 2 North tournaments tonight.
The girls’ hockey team will travel to O’Brien Rink in Woburn for a 6 p.m. preliminary game against Winchester. The Warriors clinched a tournament appearance by beating Wayland last week. Winchester beat Wakefield 5-2 on Dec. 16. The Warriors are the 17-seed while the Sachems are the 16-seed. The winner of this game will get the tough task of playing number-1 seeded Wellesley in the first round at Babson College on March 3 at 6 p.m.
The number-4 seed girls’ basketball team will host 13th-seeded Burlington at the Charbonneau Field House at 7 p.m. tonight. The Warriors beat Burlington 52-24 on Jan. 2 and 63-34 on Feb. 2. The winner of this game will play the winner of Hamilton-Wenham vs. North Reading in the quarterfinals.
