Division title on the line today against Melrose

PEMBROKE — The WMHS girls’ track and field team traveled to Pembroke High on Saturday to compete in the Div. 3 State Relays.

The Warriors brought home three medals on their way to an 11th place finish.

The Distance Medley team finished 2nd with a time of 13:20.49. Sammy Seabury ran the 1200, Kaitlin Sweeney ran the 400, Sophie Brown ran the 800 and Olivia Lucey anchored with the 1600.

The high jump team tied for 2nd with Newburyport and Wilmington as each team jumped 14’04. The Warriors on the high jump were Olivia Fetherston, Adriana Minasian and Kaylee Lamberti.

The 4×1 mile team took 5th in a talented event with a time of 23:53.37. The milers were Emma Partyka, Maggie Ritchie, Audrey Schopperle and Shannon Driscoll.

More top ten fishes for the Warriors included the 4×100 relay (10th, 52.70), the 4×200 team (7th, 1:53.16), the long jump (9th, 44’05.5), the shot put (8th, 80’10.5) and the discus (8th, 223’04).

Wakefield always has Melrose circled on their calendar and this year is no different.

The Warriors and Red Raiders will meet in Wakefield today. Both teams are 3-0 so this meet could once again decide the champion of the Freedom Division. Wakefield won in Melrose by just two points last year. Melrose took 7th at State Relays.
