STONEHAM — The Wakefield High field hockey team took their four-game winning streak to the always tough grass at Stoneham High on Tuesday for a big, Freedom Division matchup.

The Warriors were rolling, outscoring their opponents 18-6 on their 4-0 run starting on Sept. 16.

The offense was still humming, and Wakefield took a 4-0 lead at halftime into a comfortable 5-0 victory.

It was a day to remember for the Warrior freshmen, especially Grace Seabury (two goals, two assists) and Caroline Melanson (two goals, one assist).

Melanson assisted on Seabury’s first goal that put the Warriors ahead 1-0 just 4:50 into the contest.

Seabury connected again six minutes later off the stick of senior captain Erin Heffernan.

Seabury then assisted on a goal from senior captain Annabella Forziati with 6:36 remaining in the half.

Melanson scored unassisted with 46 seconds left, giving the Warriors some more peace of mind heading into the break.

Wakefield’s defense continued to hold strong in the second half. Sophomore goalie Abby Boudreau picked up three saves in the game for her second shutout in two days.

Overall, it was another sound, team effort with contributions from all three levels of the field. The Warriors have now outscored their opponents 23-6 during their 5-0 run and have improved their record to 5-4.

Wakefield will try to for their sixth straight today when they travel to Burlington for another Freedom matchup. The Warriors have a 3-2 league record while the Red Devils have a 2-4-1 league record.
