On three Thursday nights in July

WAKEFIELD — The Warriors Track & Field Club will be presenting a Thursday night Track and Field Camp for athletes, ages 7-14, on three Thursday nights in July on the 16th, 23rd and 30th.

The camp will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Wakefield Memorial High School Beasley Track and Field facility. The cost is $30 for the whole program.

There will be five running events and six field events. On the track will be 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters and mile. In the field will be the long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, discus and turbo javelin.

The goal is to provide a safe and fun place where athletes can exercise while learning the basics of track and field.

The daily schedule will feature warm up/technique/form work, field event rotation, running groups (distance and sprints), simulated track and field meet, cool down and stretch.

The coaches will include:  Ruben Reinoso (director), Wakefield Memorial High Head coach indoor/outdoor track and field; Perry Pappas (distance), Wakefield Memorial High head coach cross-country, assistant indoor/outdoor track and field; Elias Reinoso (sprints/jumps), Wakefield Memorial High School assistant indoor/outdoor track and field coach; Anthony LaFratta (sprints/relays), Wakefield Memorial  High assistant indoor/outdoor track and field coach; Ryan Yurchick (throws), Merrimack College and Wakefield Memorial High School outdoor assistant coach and co-founder of the East Coast Throwers Club.
