William-Hunt-obit-webMELROSE — William J. “Billy” Hunt, 73, passed away at EPOCH of Melrose Nursing Home on Sunday, April 10.

Billy was raised in Charlestown and Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1960. Mr. Hunt worked at New England Telephone Company for more than 40 years. He first started out as a lineman and then finished his career in management for the phone company. Billy has been a longtime Melrose resident, was a member of the New England Telephone Pioneers, was a member of the Melrose Elks and played in the golf leagues at Mount Hood Golf Course. Mr. Hunt also loved spending time around his home, working on his house, loved the ocean and could be seen walking all over Melrose.

He was the beloved husband of Mary E. (Kelley) Hunt. He was the loving father of Joseph W. Hunt of Melrose and Matthew T. Hunt of Los Angeles, Calif. He was the proud grandfather of Leonardo W. Hunt. He was the caring brother of Thomas Hunt of Melrose, James Hunt of Florida and the late Marilyn Moriello.

Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 8:30-10 a.m., Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
