NRMS Geography Bee winner


NORTH READING — William Nickas, a seventh grader, won the title of North Reading Middle School Geography Bee Champion on Friday, January 26.

All Middle School students participated in the school-based round of the competition, answering 85 multiple choice questions. The top three scorers from each grade qualified to compete in the North Reading Middle School Geography Bee.

The Bee was held live in the Performing Arts Center, and the entire school was in attendance, cheering on the contestants. Representing the sixth grade bee were: Mikhail Dorokhin, Jack Page, and Una Zhu. Representing the seventh grade were: Tim Auger, William Nickas, and Matt Nickas. Representing the eighth grade were: Evan Araniz, Sebastian Garvin, and Teddy Page.

All nine contestants answered questions from five different themed rounds. After the five rounds, three contestants moved on to the championship round. Sixth-grader Jack Page and seventh-graders Tim Auger and William Nickas battled through five rounds of intense questions.

After the five championship rounds, Jack Page became the third place winner, Tim Auger became the second place winner, and William Nickas became the new North Reading Geography Bee Champion!
