BOSTON — William W. Curry, 86, passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital on Feb. 5.
William was born in Boston on Aug. 23, 1928 to the late William and Grace (Noble) Curry. He was raised in Medford and graduated from Malden Catholic High School, Class of 1946. He served his country with pride in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Curry was a resident of Melrose since 1965 and was a longtime member of Incarnation Church. William worked as a court reporter for the Federal Government for over 30 years and then continued to free lance as a court reporter after his retirement. He enjoyed taking walks through Mount Hood Golf Course in Melrose and was very proud of all his grandchildren.
William was the husband of the late Marilyn P. (Carey) Curry. He was the father of Leslie C. Curry of Malden; Robert J. Curry and his longtime companion Mary Spencer of Saugus; William A. Curry and his wife Susan of Newburyport; and Patricia A. Kelliher and her husband Robert of Dracut. He was the grandfather “Gubby” to Alexandra, Grace and Claudia Curry and Matthew and Emily Kelliher. He was the brother of Nancy Olsen of Virginia and Marilyn Brophy of Burlington. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St. Melrose on Tuesday, Feb. 10. William’s funeral was held at Gately Funeral Home on Wednesday Feb. 11, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St., Melrose. Interment will take place at Mt.
