WAKEFIELD — A 60-year-old Stoneham woman was arrested at about 8:30 p.m. yesterday for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor (second offense) and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage following a rear-end crash at North Avenue and Richardson Street.

Police received a call at about 8:20 p.m. from the driver of a 2007 Honda Pilot that had been rear-ended. The caller requested an officer because the woman who was driving the other car, a 2009 Hyundai Tuscon, did not have her driver’s license in hand.

When officers arrived, they were informed by the Honda driver whose car was hit that the other driver had left the scene. Police were able to locate that car as it was taking a right from North Avenue onto Broadway and stopped the vehicle in the MG Fitness parking lot.

While speaking with the driver, officers noticed that her speech was slurred. Following a series of field sobriety tests, Carol A. Vacca of 2 Joan Ave. in Stoneham was placed under arrest for OUI (second offense) and leaving the scene of an accident with
property damage.
