Players are also reminded to wear shorts with pockets and bring two cans of tennis balls. Registration is $5 per player and includes a tournament T-shirt.

Plans are underway to have three separate age brackets each for boys and girls: high school, 14 and under, and 12 and under. The tournament is geared for both beginner and more advanced players and will include consolation matches to ensure plenty of play for all participants.

The junior tennis tournament, created in 1991 by Bill Conley and John Ludlow, this year celebrates 25 years. In honor of this milestone anniversary, all former players and families are invited to come by the courts throughout the weekend as well as on Sunday morning for the wrap up ceremonies.

Players may register or get more details by calling Rich or Jennifer Walter at 781-246-4294 or by e-mail at [email protected]

Fundraising in the form of donations, raffles and snacks will go toward the Geoffrey A. Walter Fund at The Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield.

In the spirit of Geoffrey Walter, the tourney committee invites all interested junior tennis players and families to participate and demonstrate their enthusiasm, skill and sportsmanship.
