MELROSE — With so many causes to support these days, The Bridge: A School-Community Partnership invites you to lift up our Melrose Public Schools without spending a penny. As organizers prepare for the Trivia Bee on March 23 and the Bee Online Auction, they ask you to hunt through your home for new items to donate to our Reduce, Reuse, Regift campaign.

Drop your new and never used items to our Bridge Bin on the porch of 177 Bellevue Ave. If you have a question about whether something would work or if you would prefer that The Bridge picks up your item, feel free to email melrose.bridge.bee@gmail.com. Either way, make sure to get a donation receipt and feel great about supporting The Bridge!

The group has received quite a few fun items so far, including a mini-pool table and unique and unusual board games, ready to go for many a game night. They also thank the anonymous donor of a top-notch espresso machine, new in the box and some absolutely beautiful jewelry.

As The Bridge moves into our next phase of the fundraiser, organizers are looking for home items, including any original artwork that you are ready to re-home. Perhaps you have an item, once perfect, but that no longer works with your updated decor.

“I love this fundraiser,” said one recent donor. “I’ve been looking for an impactful way to repurpose items that don’t work for me. I am happy to see them work for someone else!”

As the group embraces 2024, fulfill your resolution to declutter while making a positive impact on others. Dig deep in your closets, your attic and your basement. If it is in “giftable condition,” The Bridge would love to use it during their silent auction or include it in one of their Trivia Bee gift basket raffles.

Categories that work well for us include: Toys, games, puzzles with tags or in original packaging; sporting goods/equipment, tickets, jerseys and memorabilia; household goods, decorative items and unused kitchenware; tools and electronics, in new boxes; accessories/jewelry (no clothing, please); beauty and spa themed items in sealed packaging; event/show tickets, Museum passes, Cultural Exhibits (April 2024 or later); and pre-owned original art and antiques work, too!
