MELROSE — The City of Melrose sent out a huge thank you and congratulations to City CFO/Auditor Patrick Dello Russo on his retirement after nearly 30 years of service to Melrose.

“We are so grateful to Patrick for his leadership and dedication to this community and for the integrity and compassion he has brought to his work as City of Melrose CFO; a career that has spanned five mayoral administrations. Patrick will be deeply missed by City Hall staff, past and present, as well as the many residents he has worked with over the years. Thank you, Patrick, we wish you and your family all the best as you transition into this new chapter,” a statement read.

“We are delighted to welcome our interim CFO Ellen Donaghey. Ellen’s 35+ year career in municipal and state finance, budget planning and grants management includes her principal role in the development of 13 public safety agency budgets as CFO for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security. Ellen retired as CFO for the Boston Public Library system in July 2023 and will serve as interim CFO for Melrose through June 30, 2024.

“Over the past month, Ellen and Patrick have developed a working relationship, exchanged knowledge and established a path to move Melrose forward as the FY 25 budget planning process continues. Patrick will continue to support Ellen and the departments as a part-time consultant. We will also begin the search for a new CFO in the coming weeks,” the statement concludes.
