Animal lover who loved traveling and caring for her plants
MELROSE — Deborah A. (Matheson) Wadland, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital at age 76.
Deborah was born in Melrose on February 16, 1948, the daughter of the late Alexander and Evelyn (Mooers) Matheson. She was raised in Melrose where she graduated from Melrose High School. In her youth, she was a Rainbow Girl and enjoyed visiting the family cabin in Pawtuckaway, NH for boating and swimming with generations of family members.
Deb found happiness when she met Larry Wadland in 1993. They loved being together and especially enjoyed visiting Aruba every year for a week in December. She and Larry loved being together, traveling and seeing family for events. An animal lover, she had many cats and dogs who she cherished and in later years enjoyed caring for her many plants.
Strong willed and outspoken, Deb knew what she wanted and offered her thoughts freely. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, was very generous and was happiest at home in Melrose. She will be lovingly remembered by her family.
Deb was the wife of the late Lawrence A. Wadland. Devoted mother of Matthew Seely and his wife Katie of Lynn. Stepmother of Robert Wadland and his late wife Shirley and Tania Wadland. Caring grandmother of Maya, Connor and step-grandmother of Arianna, Anthony and Dominic.
