GLOUCESTER — Love in the time of terrorism is the theme of Wakefield native Israel Horovitz’s newest play, The Day Before Yesterday, which follows three couples during 72 hours, before and after a rock concert in Paris. A free reading of The Day Before Yesterday will be offered at Gloucester Stage at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18. The stellar Boston-based professional cast includes Lewis Wheeler, Amanda Collins, Esme Allen, Obehi Janice, Harsh Gagoomal, and Joseph Short. Horovitz directs.
The Day Before Yesterday is the final play in Horovitz’s Paris trilogy, which also includes his internationally-acclaimed My Old Lady, and this year’s off-Broadway hit Out of the Mouths of Babes, which starred Estelle Parsons and Judith Ivey and played to packed houses at NYC’s legendary Cherry Lane Theatre.
Israel Horovitz was born and raised in Wakefield, graduating from Wakefield High School in 1956. He has has gone on to international acclaim as a playwright, screenwriter and director. He has written more than 70 plays. The hit 2014 film, My Old Lady, based on his play of the same name, was adapted and directed by Horovitz, starring Maggie Smith, Kevin Kline and Kristin Scott Thomas.
