Hunt-obit-webSTONEHAM — Robert E. Hunt, 77, passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Nov. 21, two months after his wife Mildred died.

Robert was born in Concord on Oct. 16, 1939 to the late John P. and Mary (MacDonald) Hunt. He was raised in Malden, graduated from Malden High School, Class of 1958, lived in Saugus for over 25 years, Wells, Maine for 10 years and the past 8 years in Stoneham.

Mr. Hunt worked as a printer for Merrill Printing and Daniels Printing for over 40 years ending his career as a proofreader.

Robert was a former member of Sacred Hearts Church in Malden, St. Mary Church in Wells, Maine, the Knights of Columbus in Malden, was very generous to the Little Sisters of The Poor and Catholic charities in general.

He enjoyed collecting autographs, had quite a large collection including Frank Sinatra and Joe DiMaggio and was a member of the Gene Audrey Fan Club.

Robert was a lover of animals and was a big fan of all the Boston sports teams.

Mr. Hunt was the husband of the late Mildred (Mikkelsen) Hunt. He was the brother of Kathleen Neville and her husband Ed of Melrose, John Hunt of Saugus, Nancy Cowperthwait of Arizona, Susan Carroll of West Yarmouth, Connie Nedohon of Wisconsin, Terry Hunt of West Yarmouth and the late Mary McDermott, Judy Nelson and Dolly Behnke.

Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday, Nov. 30, from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by a service at the funeral home at 10 a.m.

Interment at Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem MA 01970.
