Lipton-obit-webMELROSE — Paul Lipton, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Melrose surrounded by his family on Nov. 28.

He was the son of the late Louis and Helen (Kenneally) Lipton. He was the beloved husband of 49 years to Mary (Kavanagh) Lipton. He was the loving father of Siobhan Andrews and her husband Scott of Winchester and Ciara Pitcher and her husband Jeff of Melrose. He was the proud grandfather of Aidan, Seamus and Rory Andrews, and Brady, Sofia and Shane Pitcher. He was the brother-in-law of Anna Lyons, Patrick Kavanagh and Edward Kavanagh, all of Ireland and Jack Kavanagh and Thomas Kavanagh, both of California.

Paul served his country with pride in the United States Air Force for four years during the Korean War. Mr. Lipton was a resident of Melrose for 37 years and worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 40 years.

He was a history enthusiast and loved reading. Paul enjoyed taking family trips internationally and domestically but his greatest love was his grandchildren.

Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Thursday, Dec. 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be from Gately Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 2 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St., Melrose at 10:30 a.m.

Burial with Military Honors at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
