THE SGT. HAROLD O. YOUNG VFW Auxiliary to Post 2394 in Melrose sponsored 20 students of Hoover Elementary School who participated in the VFW Auxiliary Americanism Essay Contest. In the attached photo, President Cathleen Churchill presents Patriotic Youth Awards to each student on Friday, March 9, at the Hoover School. Winners of the contest at the Auxiliary level were: 3rd place Adelaide Hickey, 2nd place Maddy Byrnes, and 1st place Chloe Mahoney. Chloe’s essay has been entered in the State Americanism Essay Contest. Winners will be announced at the VFW Loyalty Day Ceremony at Battleship Cove in Fall River on April 29. Good luck Chloe!
