WAKEFIELD — A Spaulding Street man was arrested Saturday night following a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of North Avenue and Prospect Street that left moderate damage to a gray 2013 Volkswagen Passat.

Police said a call came into the Police Station about a driver who was operating in an erratic manner and was “all over the road” on Yale Avenue at about 7:15 p.m. Saturday.

A minute later, a second call came in about a motor vehicle that had been struck at the intersection of North Avenue and Prospect Street. During the crash, a bumper bearing a license plate was torn away from the driver’s vehicle — a green 1999 Buick.

Police said the vehicle was registered to Edward G. Clark, 52, 12 Spaulding St., #2., who had left the car at the intersection and fled on foot.

Police said Clark was located on Spaulding Street and during questioning it was determined that he had been driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Clark was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of property damage and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Police also cited Clark for failing to stop at a red light.

Since Malden District Court is closed today due to the storm, Clark will be arraigned Tuesday.

Officers responding to the call were Patrol Officers Jonathan Burnham, Geoffrey Eriksen, Matthew Warren and John Whaley.

Police arrested a man from Scituate early this morning following a struggle with police officers when they responded to a call from the Clarion Inn.

An employee of the hotel called police at about 3 a.m. today and said that Nicholas Perry Albano, 30, 62 Allen Pl., Scituate was causing a problem in the lobby of the hotel by yelling and cursing at employees.

A manager tried to remove him from the premises, but he refused. Patrol Officers David Rando and John Whaley, along with Sgt. Matthew Maglio soon arrived and tried to take him into custody, but Albano became belligerent and put up a struggle with officers.

Albano was finally taken into custody and arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He will be arraigned in Malden District Court Tuesday.
