NORTH READING — The NRHS girls’ soccer team took to the road for the fourth game in a row on September 24 and were able to defeat the Hamilton-Wenham Generals 1-0 to earn their third win in four games. Freshman Sophia Galuppo scored the lone goal and sophomore Maddie DiNapoli picked up the assist. Junior goalkeeper Julia Thorstad made three saves to pick up her second shutout of the season.

Shut out Triton 1-0
Senior captain Joanna Kellogg converted a penalty kick 15 minutes into the second half to lead the Hornets to their fourth victory in five games with a 1-0 result against the Triton Vikings on a soggy Arthur J. Kinney Field on Thursday. Julia Thorstad was outstanding with 10 saves and picked up her second shutout in as many matches.
Extend winning streak with victory at Bishop Fenwick
On Saturday, the red hot Hornets traveled to Peabody to take on Bishop Fenwick and extended their winning streak to three games with a 2-0 victory over the Crusaders. Maddie DiNapoli and Joanna Kellogg scored for North Reading. NRHS has gone 5-1 in their last six games and in that span, Julia Thorstad has only surrendered five goals.
The game was scoreless for the first 25 minutes. In the 26th minute, DiNapoli broke the ice with her strike to give the Hornets the lead. With the score still 1-0 Kellogg added an insurance goal in the 50th minute when she potted a beautiful direct free kick to seal the win.
