NAPLES, Fla. — It is with deep sorrow that I announce the death of Joy (DeRogatis) Robbins, 70, of Wakefield, Mass., and Naples Fla., on December 23, 2020.

Joy was born in Providence, R.I., in 1950 to the Rev. David DeRogatis and Eunice (Santos) DeRogatis.

Joy graduated from Newton High school in 1968 and in 1972 from Bloomfield College in Bloomfield N.J., with a bachelor’s degree in English. (Bloomfield College was her grandfather’s, her father’s and her mother’ alma mater.

Joy worked at the Pillar House in Newton for many years and in 1977 entered the management training program at Friendly’s Restaurant in Wakefield.

In 1979, Joy moved to Wakefield and made it her home.

Joy will be best known for being an aerobics instructor with Aerobics in Motion and for working with the special needs children at both the Dolbeare and Greenwood schools.

Joy was preceded in death by her father David and her mother Eunice. She is survived by her husband John Robbins of Wakefield, Mass., and Naples Fla. She also leaves Her daughter Carleigh (Robbins) Flores her husband Chris Flores, granddaughter MaKayla Flores and grandson Tony Flores, all of Jacksonville, Fla.

Joy is also survived by two sisters, Hope Cerrone in New York , Amy DeRogatis and her husband Chris in East Lansing, Mich.; a brother Paul DeRogatis and his wife Lucile in Brockton; a brother Peter DeRogatis and his wife Katherine in Naples, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

All who knew her loved her. She will be truly missed.
