DANVERS — Lorraine M. Gerniglia 82, formerly of Wakefield and Saugus, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Born in Wakefield, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Marion (Malonson) Gerniglia. She received her education in the Wakefield and Saugus school systems and graduated from Saugus High School.

An honorably discharged veteran, she served her country as a member of the United States Air Force.

Lorraine had been employed for many years as a clerk for the Verizon Telephone Company until the time of her retirement.

A longtime resident of Danvers, Lorraine enjoyed the ocean, travelling and many road trips over the years to Cape Cod. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and skiing in her younger years. She had a great love for animals, especially her dog, Bailey. She was a loving sister, aunt and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her longtime friend and caretaker, Mary Ann Stasinos of Danvers; a sister, Frances Testa and her husband Richard of Wakefield; a niece, Sheri Prosperi and her husband Louis of Wakefield; a nephew, Richard Testa of Lynnfield; a great-niece and great-nephew, Samantha and Nathan; and a special friend, Vicki Materkowski of Peabody. She was also the sister of the late Barbara Frances Gerniglia.
