The season for the Pioneers ended on Feb. 17 as they lost 48-28 to Pentucket in the Cape Ann League Kinney division semifinals.

Lynnfield finished at 6-6 overall under first year head coach Jeannie Cavallaro.

“This season was definitely unique and called for the team to be flexible and show perseverance because of the restrictions and many changes to the schedule,” said Cavallaro, about the COVID-shortened season. “With limited practice time leading into our first games because of our team being put in quarantine we had to jump into the fire a little before we were ready but I was so proud of the girls for maintaining great attitudes and fighting every time we played.”

Cavallaro was also grateful to the seniors.

“The seniors were great leaders and really helped us to adjust on the fly and be ready for anything that came our way. I’m thankful for their leadership and desire for the team to be united and play together, they led the way in unselfishness as well as production all season. They are a great group kids overall and I’m thankful for the seniors and that we sent them off with a great season.”

The Pioneers ware hoping to have six veterans return next winter as four of them played with two of them missed the season due to injury.
