Aileen was born In Boston on July 16, 1918 to the late Charles and Mary (Fouhy) Davidson. She was raised in Dorchester, graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School and has lived most of her life in Melrose. Mrs. Sullivan was a homemaker and was a longtime member of St. Mary Church. She worked as a secretary at St. Mary School for several years, was a member of the St. Mary Choir and the Ladies Sodality at church.
Aileen enjoyed sewing, knitting, traveling to Ireland, Alaska and Florida, and spending time with friends at Bread and Bits of Ireland in Melrose. Mrs. Sullivan was also a member of the Melrose Women’s Club, the Arts and Crafts Society and the Catholic Women’s Club. The Sullivan family would like to thank the staff at Wingate of Reading and Beacon Hospice for the wonderful and loving care they gave to Aileen.
She was the beloved wife of the late James J. Sullivan. She was the loving mother of Jane E. Sullivan of Melrose. She was the sister of the late Robert Davidson and Evelyn Ryan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews,
Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St. Melrose, on Monday, Oct. 17 from 8:30-9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church, Herbert Street, Melrose at 10 a.m. Interment followed at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
