Ronnie-Squires-obit-webREADING — Ronald F. “Ronnie” Squires, 74, of Hollywood, Fla., formerly of Melrose, died at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading on Oct. 15.

Ronnie was born in Boston, raised in Cambridge and Somerville and attended Somerville schools. He resided in Melrose for 26 years and the past 15 years in Florida. Ronnie worked as a security guard for Textron in Everett for over 20 years before his retirement at the age of 62.

He enjoyed traveling to Mexico, Hawaii, Cape Cod, Mount Washington, New Hampshire and California. Ronnie was kind, respectful, very independent and devoted to his mother, siblings and family.

Ronnie was the devoted son of the late Albert J. and Catherine A. (Dooley) Squires. He was the caring brother of Helen T. Harris and her late husband William of Stoneham; Sheila LaRocque and her husband Richard; Laurence S. Squires and his wife Kathy, all of Peabody; and the late Albert J. Squires, William J. Squires and James P. Squires. He was the godfather of Michelle Connolly and her husband Christopher of Peabody. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours were held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose on Tuesday, Oct. 18. A Funeral Service was held at the Gately Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 19. Burial was private.
