NORTH READING— Albert E. Sylvia Sr., founder of the North Reading Transcript and Lynnfield Villager, passed away Jan. 22, six days short of his 92nd birthday.
Mr. Sylvia and his late wife Frances founded the Transcript in 1956 and the Villager in 1973. Mr. Sylvia remained actively involved in the publication of both newspapers until he was well into his late 80’s.
Mr. Sylvia is survived by his son, Albert Jr. and his wife, Chris; by his daughter Kathleen Correale and her husband Sandy; and by his three grandchildren, Sean and Hilary O’Brien and Danielle Sylvia.
Mr. Sylvia’s wake will be at Croswell’s Funeral Home, 19 Bow St., North Reading on Monday, Jan. 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. with a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at St. Theresa’s Church on Winter St. in North Reading.
